Press Release: “Yellow Badges” at Outremont City Council – CIJA-Québec calls for Civility

March 6, 2018  Montreal, QC – Yesterday evening, a small group of citizens came to the Outremont City Council wearing yellow badges to express dissatisfaction with the presence of school buses serving Jewish students in the borough. These yellow badges, intentionally or not, are reminiscent of the historic oppression of the Jews. Two individuals had to be expelled from the Council. In response, Rabbi Reuben Poupko, Co-Chair of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs-Québec (CIJA-Quebec), issued the following: “Some residents of the borough seem to be determined to persistently sow discord in Outremont even though in recent months significant progress has been made in terms of good-neighborly relations and social harmony. We encourage elected officials in Outremont to remain steadfast in their rejection of all uncivil behavior and to ensure that the City Council never serves as a forum to stigmatize citizens of the borough.” -30-The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) is the advocacy agent of the Jewish Federations of Canada-UIA.

The Jewish people have been in Quebec for Over 400 years. We were denied Education, employment and even Entry to this country. See The Story of the S.S. St. Louis (1939):

And The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau back in 2015 had the Gal to Compare the St. Louis Tragedy to the migrant Invasion:  Jewish groups slam Trudeau for ‘none is too many’ remarks:

We therefore had to create our own schools, synagogues, hospitals… with Jewish Donations…

And some still have the gal to ask some Jews “Why don’t you speak French”? Well we were not accepted into the French schools!! We contributed greatly to Canada unlike some hundreds of thousands soon to be in the millions of uneducated people who come and collect whatever they can perpetually. And sadly those are the people we cannot say anything about because then they will slap you with Motion M-103. Never mind the never ending anti-Semitism which keeps rising and keeps being ignored.
